Where can you play chess over the board in Ufa?
If you need a classic club with ratings and a schedule, Ufa has a regional federation and a sports school that raised grandmasters - the addresses are collected further down this page. But if you just want to play some chess in the evening at a nice place, that's us. A bar or cafe, boards on the tables, several opponents in one evening.
In summer you could set the pieces up on the Belaya embankment, but our version works year-round: warm, well-lit and with an opponent already sitting across from you. The format has been road-tested in other cities, and now it's Ufa's turn. It's an unusual answer to the question of where to go in the evening: blitz and rapid, living opponents, zero stuffiness.

The format filters out the stuffiness on its own: games are fast, and around you is a lively bar, not a quiet tournament hall with arbiters.

Half and half. There are rounds and a standings table, but nobody here stresses over points longer than one seat change.
What if I lose every game?›
It happens, especially on your first visit. But by the next meetup you already know who plays how, and you take your revenge.
Do I need to bring my own board?›
No. Boards, pieces and clocks are on us. All you bring is the wish to play some chess.

Where people play and learn chess in Ufa
Bashkortostan produced its first grandmaster in 2004: Denis Khismatullin, born in Neftekamsk and educated in Ufa. The republic's chess is run from Sofyi Perovskoy Street, where the federation, the municipal sports school and the Tolpar club share one building.
