Chess evenings in Moscow
Play. Meet people. Spend the evening differently
Moscow Vibe Chess Club hosts evening get-togethers over the board in the city's bars, cafes and restaurants. A friendly tournament format, easy conversation and a laid-back atmosphere where you don't need to be a grandmaster.
No grandmaster title required. Just know the rules and want to spend an evening over the boards with interesting people.
Not a chess school and not a closed club. These are city meetups where the board is just a reason to gather
Where can you play chess in Moscow?
Moscow Vibe Chess Club is all about casual evenings over the board and amateur tournaments for young adults and grown-ups. We meet in the city's bars, cafes and restaurants, play short games, hang out and spend the evening in a lively, social way.
The format suits anyone who hasn't played in a while, is just starting out, plays online, or wants to find an offline community over the board in Moscow.
For anyone who wants to spend the evening differently - not at home and not in yet another bar
A simple plan for the evening so everyone feels comfortable
The main thing is just to show up. The format takes care of the rest: the games, the rotation of opponents, the chats during breaks and the overall buzz of the room.
Show up at the venue
A bar, cafe or restaurant in Moscow. The address goes out in advance on our Telegram channel.
Check in at the start
Arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can settle in without rushing.
Play a few rounds
Quick games against different opponents and a clear plan for the evening.
Chat between rounds
Meet people, go over your games or just watch the room.
Don't dash off
The last game isn't the end of the night - the conversation keeps going.
Come along even if the game lives somewhere back in your school memories
No one is going to pick apart your play. Chess is simply a way to bring people together.
A high rating and a group of friends are not required.
All you need is the rules, the wish to spend a good evening, and to be there 10-15 minutes before the start.
“I'm worried I play too badly”
Not a problem. Skill levels vary at every meetup. If yours doesn't quite fit, we'll put together a separate evening for it.
“What if I run into tournament snobs”
There's no sports-school vibe here. This is a city get-together where the board is just an excuse to talk.
“I won't know anyone there”
That's normal. Most people come the same way. The games and seat swaps pull you in on their own.
“It'll feel uncomfortable”
You don't have to meet everyone at once. Play a couple of games and you'll gradually feel right at home.
“I'd need to relearn the rules first”
Then this is exactly for you. The format is built to bring you back to the board without any pressure.
“I have no idea what to expect”
We post everything in advance on Telegram - venue, time and the sign-up link. At the meetup the hosts will help you find your feet.
The games are the backdrop - the atmosphere and the people are the point
Picture it: a cozy spot in Moscow, boards on the tables, quick games, new faces, conversations between rounds and that feeling of having landed in exactly the right place.
A light tournament format for the buzz. Without the strict sporting discipline
The tournament format is there to give the evening momentum and a clear flow. The goal isn't to crown a champion - it's to gather a lively crowd around the board.
Several games in a row
Enough games to get into it, without the drawn-out tension.
A new opponent every round
Each game means a different person across the table, plus fresh introductions.
Skill-based leagues - coming soon
As the community grows we'll add separate meetups: beginners, amateurs and experienced players.
Open Moscow in the bot, read the announcements and sign up for meetups

The channel is for the vibe and announcements. The bot is for sign-ups and reminders.

The goal is to turn this into a regular series of city events
Skill-based groups
Beginners, amateurs and experienced players each land in their own group.
A simple rating
We count participation, games and wins - without a rigid sporting table.
An event chronicle
After each meetup we'll share photos, reviews and stories from the players.
